House Progress: We’re Locked Out!

I vividly remember reading other build journeys mid last year when our slab went down and thinking lock up was forever away! Well here it is. And I’m so glad it came. Most people hate the idea of lock up because, well as the name suggests, you cannot get in. But I see it as being another step closer to finally being in our home which we have waited almost two years for!

So here are a few snaps of where we are at:

External Render Complete & Doors / Windows in!

Cornices are in! We chose the Trio Cornice for the Entry and main living area / kitchen and Standard Cornice for everywhere else.

Stairs are in!

Internal door and shelving delivery!

Living Room windows overlooking our beautiful side garden (sand pit).

The infamous side access for the boat.. Please let it fit!

We have a bath!

Our front door! Although, we are pretty certain it is the wrong one. It should be a stain grade door as it is being stained in Red Cedar.

A progress shot.

So our builder has really picked up the pace in the last few weeks! I’m really hoping they keep it up.

The next couple of weeks the following should occur:

  • Tiling labour of screed to the wet areas is due to commence by early next week.
  • Tiling labour of waterproofing to the wet areas is due to commence by late next week.
  • Painter is also due to commence internal gloss of the upper walls, doors and door frames after the Easter break.
  • Cabinet installation to follow

Picked up this gorgeous Stockholm Mirror from IKEA for $69! It’s 80cm wide too.

Masters had 40% off lighting over the weekend so I took advantage and bought two concrete / glass pendant lights for the Master Bedroom. The towel is Home Republic from Adairs & the cushions are from Country Road!

Country Road

Country Road had 25% off so I bought a couple more grey cushions for $23 each!

Adairs also had a sale (are you seeing a common theme here?) I picked up this coverlet for $59 reduced from $189!

Hmm, so reflecting on the above, I can now pinpoint exactly where all my money went this month… I hope my boyfriend doesn’t read this post. If he does – I’m going to try my best to not buy any homewares during the month of April…….. No, really!

And no post by me would be complete without throwing ANOTHER paint colour in the mix! I’m now looking at Resene Sea Fog. I purchased a sample pot on the weekend, so I will see how I go.

“Resene Sea Fog is a very pure grey white” – Ticking my boxes!

A few others that have made it on my list are – Dulux Dieskau, Haymes Greyology 1 and Haymes Smoky Silouhette; as seen in Gina from Style Curator’s master bedroom below.

Haymes Smoky Silhouette via Style Curator – I love the moody vibe it creates in the bedroom.
