House Progress: Upper Floor

Where did November go?

House Update:

We’ve had a fair amount of progress on our house over the last 6 weeks and our top story is nearing completion.

We came back from a week in Bali to see that they had started painting the upstairs render. I was so worried about the colour we chose (Solver Vitesse), but absolutely love it now!

I think the render looks beautiful with our white windows and I can’t wait for the roof to go on to get an even better idea of how it will all look. I’ve always wanted a cream / white house and it is now becoming a reality! We decided to paint the whole house in the same colour as we couldn’t decide on a feature colour and the builder also wanted an extra $500 just to paint the two portico pillars in a feature colour. After handover we might stack stone the pillars if we think it needs it.

Now all that is left to do on the upper floor is:

  • Installation of upper roof.
  • Eaves to be painted.
  • Window clean and Scaffold drop.

Our site supervisor said the above should be done prior to the Christmas break and hopefully our lower roof frame is complete too. Though, I’m not holding my breath on that one. Apparently BT are notorious for delays at lower roof stage.

We haven’t made any major furniture purchases yet, as we can’t decide on what we want + we don’t really have anywhere to store larger items. I have however, continued to purchase soft furnishings… Country Road have a great sale on at the moment so I couldn’t resist buying the items below. I have a serious addiction to homewares..HELP!

We might not have a couch or a coffee table but at least we have beautiful cushions and coasters…They’re necessities, right?

I’m also still obsessed with paint colours and found this image in the Dulux brochure that I absolutely love! So now Dulux White Exchange Half is on the short-list – well it’s not exactly a “short list” but at least there is a list.

I’m hoping over the Xmas break we can finally lock down our flooring supplier. We are 100% set on Spotted Gum timber for the main areas, however we are still unsure about a carpet colour.

I originally wanted a lighter carpet, but I’m now leaning towards a charcoal as I think it’s more practical? I really like the look of the carpet below. It’s a Quest carpet, but unfortunately they no longer stock this colour. This will just be for the bedrooms and upstairs. For the theatre we will go for something more plush but in a similar colour to the rest of the house.

I will hopefully have another upper floor update in the next couple of weeks!
